We had planned on going to the Point Defiance Zoo, but there was no parking and we found the Fort Nisqually living history center. The fort was an important fur trading and farming post of the Hudson’s Bay Company and was developed between the 1830’s to 1840’s and closed in 1869 when it was taken over as a homestead. The granary on the site was built in 1843 and is the oldest building in Washington state.
